Camille Schroder - Honors Senior, Finance
 Born and raised in Sour Lake, TX, a small town outside of Beaumont, Camille attended Hardin-Jefferson High School. When her older brother Reid came to the University of St. Thomas in 2001, Camille had the opportunity to be acquainted with the school. “I fell in love with the atmosphere of the campus,” she said. After that, the decision to come here was easy.
After being contacted by the university regarding the Honors Program, Camille applied and has not regretted her decision. “Hands down, the Honors Program has been one of the most rewarding aspects of my UST experience,” Camille explained. “Each Honors class that I take quickly becomes the most enjoyable and beneficial class of the semester.”
For more than just the academic reason, the Honors Program will always have a dear place in Camille’s heart. “Thanks to the Honors Program, I met my very best friend here at St. Thomas (Leila Hamzo, also an Honors senior),” Camille explained. “She was the first person I met, and would eventually become my roommate. We have been friends ever since that fateful day of our Honors Interview.”
Along with the Honors Program, Camille is currently majoring in Finance. Her interest in finance began during a career day in high school. “A financial advisor spoke to us about the importance of saving money and what smart investing could do for your future.” It sparked her curiosity in the area. After completing the MBA program at UST, Camille plans to work somewhere in the US in a finance-related field.
Outside of her school and work duties, she also takes active roles in the Student Government Association and Residence Life. She has served as a Freshman and Sophomore Senator for her class and is currently Parliamentarian of the SGA. In any time she has free, she likes to sew, crochet, knit, read, peruse Facebook, dance and spend time with friends and family.
Interesting facts about Camille? “I enjoy trying new foods and traveling and tea, especially green tea. A few of my favorite places are Mexico, Brazil (the café on Dunlavy), my house in Sour Lake (pop. 1,167), my room, and finally downtown.” Some of the other places she’d like to visit include: “Greece, to see the beautiful houses and beach, Australia, to see the Great Barrier Reef, and anywhere in Europe.” Also on her list are the famous landmarks found in each state of the US.
