Laura Hamzo - Honors Sophomore, Business
Born in Lebanon, Laura was only 3 when her family moved to Houston, where they have lived since. The third child in a family of three girls, there was never a question where Laura would be attending college, given the family track record. Her oldest sister Maria was a UST graduate of 2005 and her second sister Leila is currently a senior at UST.
After graduating from Hastings High School, it was a simple decision for Laura to join her sisters at UST. “I heard of St. Thomas through my sisters, and after visiting it very frequently because of them, I was impressed by the school and decided I would like to attend also.”
What’s more, both Hamzo sisters before Laura were also Honors students, so, once again, Laura had the inside scoop on the program as well. She is now in her second year in the program. “I like the program so far because it covers a wide variety of topics, and it really gives everyone a chance to show their personality in a class.” Though, she has to admit, “I don’t like the fact that due to time constraints, not everything can be said during discussions!”
Laura is majoring in Business at UST. Graduate school is definitely in the future plans.
In her spare time, Laura likes to do read, surf the Internet or cook. |
