Econ 3331- International Economics: The theory of international trade and finance with emphasis on gains from international trade, determination of the level and compostition of trade, barriers to trade, balance of payments, and the international monetary system. Prerequisites: ECON 1331, ECON 1332. (Taught by: Dr. Pierre Canac)
INST 3352, POSC 3352, MLINS 5352, MLPOS 5352- International Politics: Theories of international politics and the decision-making process that generates foreign policy. An examination of the role of power in the mnodern world, the utility of force in conflict resolution versus the multilateral, collaborative approach. An introduction to the way current international politics is increasingly related to the world economic situation with special attention to the role of multinational corporations, international trade and finance. Prerequisites: INST 1351 or permission of professor. (Taught by: Dr. Rogelio Garcia- Contrereas)
ECON/INST 4393, ST- Survey of Euope: This course will analyze the political economy of European Union (EU) integration. It is an interdisciplinary course that covers the process of political, institutional, economic, social and cultural integration of Europe. It will focus on the process of EU enlargement, the monetary policy of the European Central Bank (ECB), the future of the euro, the trade and industrial policy of the EU, the foreign policy of the EU, the role of Spain and other key members, the relevance of Europe in the world and its relationship with other countries, including the U.S.
