STUDY ABROAD
Incoming Exchange Program Requirements from Partner Universities

Exchange programs are managed by the UST Study Abroad Office and our counterparts in our partner universities. All inquiries and applications must be handled by the Study Abroad Offices in both institutions. Deadlines to apply for admissions:
Fall Semester - April  1
Spring Semester - October 15
                                                                

The following procedures must be completed.

You may also fax your application to
(713)525-3872. Original documents can then be mailed.  Please do not apply online.

  1. Complete the Admissions applications - The processing fee is not applicable.
  2. Have your university send an official copy of your transcript for advising to Diana Garcia.
  3. Send an official copy of the TOEFL (For Non-English partner universities) or ILETS
  4. SEVIS fee is paid when applying for the J-1 visas (student must pay this when applying for VISA)
  5. Send two (2) photos (passport size)
  6. Send a copy of your passport
  7. Provide Proof of Insurance
  8. Students must advise Diana Garcia of flight information including: Airlines, Date, Flight Number, and Arrival Time
  9. Airport and transportation to UST -Taxi approximately $50.00 to 1303 Sul Ross (Guinan Hall) or 4004 Yoakum, Houston, TX 77006 (Study Abroad Office) or 3800 Montrose Blvd (Main UST address)

Visa Information:

Contact Fawziyia Alsarraj after being admitted to UST to obtain visa documentation.

Orientation: The Residence Hall opens for new exchange students:

Spring 2012: January 11, 2012

Your UST student ID card will be issued upon arrival.

2011-2012 Academic Calendar

Fall 2011

August 17, 2011               New Exchange students can move in
August 22, 2011               First day of class.
September 5, 2011           Labor Day – No classes.
October 10-11, 2011         Mid-semester Break – No classes. 
November 23-26, 2011     Thanksgiving Break – No classes. 
December 5, 2011             Last Day of Class.
December 7-13, 2011        Exams

Must move out of Residence Hall– within 24 hours of last final exam

Spring 2012

January 10, 2012            New Exchange students can move in
January 12, 2012            First day of classes
January 16, 2012            Martin Luther King Holiday –No classes.
March 12-17, 2012          Spring Break – No classes.
April 5-7, 2011                 Easter Break – No classes.
April 30, 2012                  Last Day of Classes
May 3-10, 2012               Exams

Must move out of dorm within 24 hours of last final exam.

Please make special note as to holidays where housing will be closed to students. International students must be prepared to stay with friends or at another location.
