Applicants for the traditional 8-12 certificate must have completed Arts and Science courses plus 24 credit hours in professional education. All candidates for 8-12 certification must complete:

Candidates for 8-12 certification must complete at least six credit hours of student teaching (10-12 weeks all day), a one-year supervised internship, or complete two years teaching experience in a TEA approved 8-12 classroom. Student teaching, one year supervised internships, or two year teaching experience must be done at the level and in the content area for which certification is being sought. The
