About
The Center for Thomistic Studies is the only graduate philosophy program in the United States uniquely focused on the thought of St. Thomas Aquinas. In the pursuit of a living Thomism, the Center’s programs stress both historical understanding of Aquinas’s texts and a rigorous rethinking of his thirteenth-century wisdom in the light of twenty-first century problems and realities.
The Center offers courses in all periods in the history of philosophy, but distinctive of the Center’s courses is the way in which they seek to maintain a dialogue between the thought of Aquinas and the thinking of major philosophers from a variety of philosophical traditions. Driving these inquiries, however, is a thirst for the truth, for the reality of both nature and supernature which culminates in that unified understanding known as wisdom.
Beyond its graduate programs in philosophy, the Center also provides a venue for distinguished visiting scholars to offer lectures and courses. The Center’s publications program promotes cutting-edge scholarly research in Thomistic studies, as well as classroom texts which represent a Thomistic viewpoint on a variety of topics. |
