Pre-College & Adult Lessons and Course Offerings
Building on the University of St. Thomas’ commitment to excellence in music education and community outreach, the University offers private music instruction, music theory and history classes to pre-college and non-traditional students. The Music Preparatory School is a non-degree granting program that offers lessons and courses to students who are not seeking college credit. However, High School students may ask to be granted approval for college credit from appropriate administrators or counselors at their schools. We are eager to help with this process. High school students will be prepared for entrance to college as music majors if that is their goal.
“Music study incites intellect and contributes to a lifetime of music-making increasing quality of life and nourishing the human spirit. We welcome all students who have a desire to make music an integral part of their lives. Please join us on this exciting new endeavor!”

Lessons and practice; choosing the length of your lesson.
You may choose the length of your lesson. Many students base their practice per day on the length of lesson, in other words, half hour lesson per week-half hour of practice per day. Of course the longer the lesson, the more time for work with your teacher to solidify concepts learned and reinforce ideas before practicing on your own. Your individual teacher will help you figure out what amount of practice and lesson time is best. More practice equals more results. |
