Master of Liberal Arts - Concentration in Catholic Studies
A minimum of 18 credit hours (9 credit hours in core courses (MLCSP 5300, MLCSP 5315, and either MLCSP 5310, MLCSP 5320, or MLCSP 6300; 9-12 credit hours in cross-listed electives from a minimum of three discipline areas). An extra project, focused on the Catholic Tradition as it has impacted the liberal arts, is required for the MLA student taking upper division undergraduate courses. With approval of one’s faculty advisor, courses may be selected from: (1) existing graduate courses; (2) upper division undergraduate courses for which additional requirements are necessary by virtue of one’s graduate status; (3) MLMLA seminars, and (4) other special graduate courses, which may be open to selected undergraduates.
The Master of Liberal Arts Degree Electives:
Since Catholic Studies is interdisciplinary, electives provided each semester by the departments of the University are published in mySTThom for registration and cross-listed for Catholic Studies (MLCSP). All department pre-requisites for an elective apply. New electives will be developed regularly which elucidate the inter-relationship between the Catholic Tradition, various disciplines, and the development of civilizations and culture.
