Major in Biochemistry
The Biochemistry degree plan outlined here is designed according to the American Chemical Society (ACS) guidelines for an ACS certified degree and the American Society for Biochemistry and Molecular Biology (ASBMB) curriculum recommendations.
There are a total of 78 hours in chemistry, biology, math and physics for the biochemistry BS degree.
Chemistry courses: Total 44 hours in Chemistry
CHEM 1141, 1142, 1341 & 1342 – General Chemistry Lectures and Labs 8 hours
CHEM 2143, 2144, 2343 & 2344 Organic Chemistry Lectures and Labs 8 hours
CHEM 3143 & 3343 Quantitative Analysis Lecture and Lab 4 hours
CHEM/BIOL 3134 & 3343 Biochemistry Lecture and Lab 4 hours
CHEM 4112 – Seminar in Chemistry (pass/fail) 1 hour
