Bachelor of Arts in Music offers a focus in instrumental or vocal performance. A combination of the general education core and music specific courses prepares students for graduate school and professional performance after college. Required courses include music theory and history, private lessons, and performance with large and chamber ensembles.
Bachelor of Music Education prepares students to pass state certification for grades EC-12 in choral and instrumental music through active participation in teaching methods and techniques experience. Courses taken by music education students are similar to those seeking performance degrees, including general education core classes, music theory and history, private lessons, and music education courses. Students are required to participate in student teaching, education courses and be familiar with all instrumental methods.
Master of Liberal Arts in Music is a 36-credit hour master’s degree with a concentration in “Applied Music” that combines coursework in liberal arts with traditional music education in theory and vocal performance. Graduates will have the knowledge and skills required to teach in formal and non-formal settings. |
