St. Thomas Fund Helps Make UST a Reality for Students

Jacqueline DeLeonWhen Jaqueline DeLeoń ‘14 was in high school, she knew her family did not have the means to pay for college. It was a hard reality, but she did not give up.

DeLeoń applied to the University of St. Thomas and earned several scholarships—most funded by generous donors. She also worked to help meet expenses while majoring in international studies. She was fortunate to hold several student leadership positions and to study abroad in Eastern Europe and Taiwan.

In May, DeLeoń graduated along with nearly 900 others in her UST family.

“So many of my classmates have stories like mine,” said DeLeoń.

In fact, 7 of 10 UST students receive some form of financial aid. Your gift can change the lives of students who want to attend UST this fall, so time is of the essence.

“UST has blessed and transformed my life,” said DeLeoń.  “I’m more aware of issues that challenge societies. Next, I plan to pursue a graduate degree and continue working with microcredit initiatives I learned about in the Social Entrepreneurship Program. These programs give small loans to entrepreneurs in poor countries to help them build their businesses and create better futures for their families. My fellow graduates and I are more motivated than ever to make a difference.”

You can make a difference, too, by donating online today at Your gift, along with gifts from others, will provide meaningful scholarship support to incoming UST students. And, if you work for a company with a matching gift program, you could double or triple your contribution.
