Gift to the Endowment
The Endowment at the University of St. Thomas is an aggregation of invested assets which support our mission to educate leaders of faith and character in perpetuity. Offering a bridge that connects past, current and future generations, the general endowment, endowed scholarships, endowed programs, and named endowed chairs provide the university with the stability and flexibility necessary in meeting current and future needs. A gift to the endowment enables St. Thomas to attain higher levels of academic excellence than otherwise would be possible. The long-term income generated from the endowment allows the university to recruit and retain outstanding faculty, increase student scholarships, develop strong academic programs, invest in cutting-edge technology, the library, laboratories, and other physical assets. In difficult financial times, the endowment can sustain St. Thomas’s academic programs and provide essential support for faculty and students. We can engage in long-range planning with assurance that we will have the financial resources necessary for completion.
An endowment gift can be restricted to one or several purposes or it can be given to be used at the university’s discretion. Only the income earned is available for use, with the agreement that the principal will not be spent. This allows the endowment to grow over time.
The Webre Family established an Endowed Scholarship in recognition of Fr. William Young's many years of devoted service to the University. Fr. Young is pictured right with Mrs. Webre (far left) and Joe and Sue Johnson of the Scanlan Foundation. |
