| Boone-Rodgers Named Honorable Mention All-RRAC |
Hershiira "Shorty" Boone-Rodgers, a guard on the University of St. Thomas women's basketball team, was selected to the Honorable Mention Team for the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics Red River Athletic Conference. In the team's inaugural season, Boone-Rodgers, at 5 feet 2 inches, paced the Celts with averages of 11.9 points and three assists per game.
“Shorty was a consistent competitor for us this season,” Head Coach Mike Ricks said. “She is very deserving of this honor.”
Boone-Rodgers transferred to UST from Cisco Junior College, where she averaged 10 points and 2 rebounds per game, earning Second-Team All-Conference. She was also runner-up to the Conference Freshmen of the Year. Her major is communications.
The University of St. Thomas women’s basketball team completed its inaugural season with a 8-22 record. It was the Lady Celts first year in the Red River Athletic Conference, in which they finished 5-19.
