Celts Drop Two Tough Road Matches

Regina TrappThe Lady Celts Volleyball team hit the road for the third straight weekend to face conference foes, No. 1 ranked UT-Brownsville and Our Lady of the Lake University.  The road trip proved to be a rocky one as the Celts dropped both matches to bring their overall record to 15-12 and 4-3 in Conference.

The weekend started with a daunting challenge of facing the No. 1 ranked team in the country that is now 23-0 on the season on their home court in Brownsville. The Lady Celts came out of the gate battling for every point, but the size and the fire power the Scorpians possesed was just too much. In the end, the Lady Celts lost 3-0: 15-25, 16-25 and 10-25. They were led by junior middle block Lauren Curley in kills and senior Libero Brittany Downs in digs.

On Saturday, the Celts moved on to San Antonio to take on Our Lady of the Lake.  The Celts defeated the Saints 3-0 in the first match of the season on Sept. 1.  This time around on the Saints’ home court would be a different story.  The Saints came out on fire, and the Lady Celts could not find a way to slow them down.  The Lady Celts dropped the match 3-1: 16-25, 16-25, 25-18 and 13-25.  The Lady Celts were led offensively by Regina Trapp with 15 kills and defensively by Brittany Downs with 20 digs.
