Celts Push Win Streak to 3
The Celts men’s Basketball Team hit the road to face Southwestern Assemblies of God Thursday night. With the conference tournament right around the corner, the Celts are finding a nice rhythm to their game. With the 64-59 win over the Lions, the Celts run their winning streak to 3 and winners of 5 of their last 6. The win also gave the Celts the season sweep of the Lions.

The first half saw the Celts showing off their #9 ranked scoring defense in the country. Strong man-to-man defense caused 18 turnovers while holding the Lions to 17 points. Bryan Kaase led the way for the Celts in the first half with 13 points to give them a 26-17 lead heading to the locker room.

The second half was much more of a back and forth game. The Lions would go on a big run after the Celts pushed the half time lead out to 12 points. The run over the next 10 minutes would see the Celt lose the lead, 59-57, with 2:23 left on the clock after a huge put back off a missed shot.

The Celts regrouped and scorde the 7 points for the 64-59 victory with strong defense and clutch free throws. Bryan Kaase led the Celts in scoring with 19 points. He was helped by two other Celts scoring in double digits, Anthony Medina with 13 and Travis Lampley with 10. The Celts forced 29 turnovers for the game. Travis Lampley posted a season high 12 steals for the game.

The Celts will return home for Senior Day at 2 p.m., Saturday Feb. 19 to face Arlington Baptist before hitting the road for their final three games of the regular season.
