Lady Celts Go 2-0 on Long Road Trip

The Lady Celts volleyball team hit the road over the weekend for its longest road trip of the season with matches in Dallas, Texas against Dallas Christian and Hobbs, N.M. against Red River Conference foe University of the Southwest.

The Lady Celts got the road trip off to a good start with a convincing 3-0, 25-11, 25-12, 25-12, victory over Dallas Christian. Sophomore outside hitter Regina Trapp paced the way with 8 kills while hitting .583 and Junior outside hitter Stephanie Biediger chipped in with 6 kills.

On Saturday, Sept. 24, the Lady Celts played the first official match in the Red River Conference against the University of the Southwest. The Celts got off to a slow start but found a way to get a 3-0 victory 25-16, 25-12, 26-24 moving their conference mark to 1-0. The Celts were led by middle blockers Kylah Dias and Lauren Curley with 7 and 9 kills respectively.

The Celts have busy week with four matches in three days. On Tuesday, Sept. 27, the Celts will hit the road again to UT-Tyler. The Celts defeated the Patriots earlier this year 3-0. This weekend, the Celts have two conference matches against Texas Wesleyan, at 7 p.m., Friday, Sept. 30, and Southwest Assemblies of God at 1 p.m., Saturday, Oct 1. The Celts will also play a non-conference match at 4 p.m., Saturday against Dallas Christian. Saturday’s matches will be part of the Dig Pink fundraiser for breast cancer research.
