| Lady Celts Show Improvement In Loss To Texas Wesleyan |
The University of St. Thomas women’s basketball team lost to Texas Wesleyan University 55-44.
The Lady Celts were led in scoring by Hershiira Boone-Rodgers with 15 points. Aujanee Armstrong chipped in with 12 points and 10 rebounds.
Despite the loss, the team showed significant progress, said head coach Mike Ricks.
“We executed our game plan better than we have in a while,” Ricks said. “Unfortunately we didn’t pull it out – Texas Wesleyan is a very good team.
UST is now 4-13 in the Red River Athletics Conference and 6-16 overall.
The Lady Celts will be on the road for the next three games, against Bacone College today, Jarvis Christian College on Saturday and LSU-Shreveport on Feb. 13 before returning home to play Wiley College on Feb. 18 during Homecoming weekend.
“We never want to lose, our girls are too competitive to accept losing,” Ricks said. “We do want to build on the positive things we did on Monday. Hopefully it will serve as a springboard to a great finish in our first season.”
