| Lormand Gets RRAC Player Nod |
Starting strong in her freshman season, University of St. Thomas women’s basketball
freshman Maghen Lormand was named Red River Athletic Conference Player of the Week for December 17-23.
Lormand played a key role in the Celts 80-68 road win at the University of the Southwest on Dec. 17 as she tallied 22 points and 16 rebounds. In this game, she was six for eight on the free throw line, making her percentage 75 for the season. She also racked up a 61 field goal percentage.
"Maghen had a huge game at a time when we really needed a win," Head Coach Mike Ricks
said. "She has done a great job for us so far this season, and this is just the beginning. When it's all said and done, she is going to be one of those players whose impact will be remembered long after her career is over."
The Celts return to action on Jan. 3 with a home game against Northwood University in Jerabeck Gym. Tipoff is set for 5:30 p.m.
