| Mayor Parker Gives Keynote Address at Cameron Honors Induction |
The University of St. Thomas Cameron School of Business celebrated the achievements of its students at the 3rd Annual Honors Induction and Recognition Ceremony on Friday, April 8. The event, held at the Houston Club, brought together more than 300 students and their families as well as UST faculty, administrators, and dignitaries including the Consul General of Saudi Arabia, Dr. Abdulrahman Al Shaya.
Guests were treated to an inspiring keynote address delivered by the Honorable Annise Parker, mayor of Houston. Mayor Parker challenged students to become productive members of the community while giving back to those who need it most. Distinguished guests including the Mayor, CSB faculty members Dr. Barry Wilbratte and Prof. John Whitney, former CSB dean Dr. Yhi-Min Ho, Dr. Dominic Aquila and Dr. Robert Ivany were inducted into the Beta Gamma Sigma Business Honor Society. This honor society is the most prestigious business honor society and is only present at universities accredited by AACSB International.
Following the keynote address, seven Cameron School students were honored for having the highest grade point average in the general business, marketing, finance and accounting programs. Members of the Houston CPA Society were also on hand to present students with ive scholarships sponsored by Houston companies such as Shell and Sterling Bank.
To conclude the evening, more than 100 students were inducted into the Delta Mu Delta Business Honors Society. These students were top performers in their program and maintained a grade point average in the top 20 percent of their class. Dr. Robert Ivany and Ali Saberioon, chair of the Cameron School of Business Advisory Board of Directors, both members of Delta Mu Delta, welcomed students into the honor society.
