Menís Basketball Wins Three in a Row
Deric DudleyOn a three-game run, the University of St. Thomas men's basketball team won its third game in five days on Dec. 17 in Hobbs, N.M. Defeating University of the Southwest 86-59, the win was the team’s second straight Red River Athletic Conference road game, which brings them to No. 4 in the conference.

Keeping the game close before the half at 38-37, UST widened the gap in the second to come away with the victory. Scoring a season-high 25 points, senior Caleb Williams controlled the glass for the Celts. Senior Bryan Kaase contributed a double-double with 16 points and 11 rebounds. Senior Travis Lampley added eight assists and 10 points, while sophomore Deric Dudley earned his second double-digit scoring night with 14.

The win improves St. Thomas to 4-2 in the RRAC and 8-3 overall.

Also, the men accomplished a difficult feat on Dec. 15 in Fort Worth, Texas, beating undefeated Texas Wesleyan University 78-70. The Rams were ranked No. 12 in the country and were 58-3 over their last 61 home games going into the contest.

Kaase led the team with a season-high 28 points and was six of 10 from the 3-point line.

The Celts will return to practice on Dec. 28 to get ready for their next RRAC road game on Jan. 5 against No. 3 Southwestern Assemblies of God in Waxahachie, Texas.
