New Assistant VP Joins Advancement Office

Tina Breska Medlin joins the Office of Institutional Advancement as assistant vice president for development at University of St. Thomas.

Medlin brings to UST an 18-year track record of successful fundraising experience, including more than 10 years as a senior development officer and nonprofit executive, and more than five years leading a team of development professionals and securing corporate, foundation and individual gifts up to $10 million.

Cynthia Colbert Riley, vice president for Institutional Advancement, said Medlin has ample experience in planned giving, capital campaign planning and implementation, professional staff development and management, and external relations.

“Tina has held senior management and executive positions at some of Houston’s finest organizations, including the University of Texas Houston Health Science Center, Memorial Hermann Foundation, Project GRAD Houston, Operation Rainbow and Houston ISD Foundation,” Colbert Riley said. “Most recently, Tina provided consulting services for a six-clinic community medical system.”

In her new role at UST, Medlin leads the development officers for major gifts, and she is responsible for principle gifts, planned giving and international gifts. She will also help facilitate the major gift fundraising program in support of the Faith in our Future capital campaign.

“UST is one of Houston’s crown jewels,” Medlin said. “It is an honor to serve as a member of the UST Institutional Advancement team and to take part in UST’s historic Faith in Our Future campaign.”

Medlin is a native Houstonian with a bachelor’s in psychology from University of Texas at Austin, where she serves on the UT Alumni Council Scholarship Committee. She also serves as a member of the board of directors for Writers in the Schools, a K-12 nonprofit educational organization.
