Shelia Ekeoma Onyekwere Signs with Lady Celts Basketball Team
Shelia Ekeoma Onyekwere signed a letter of intent to play for the University of St. Thomas inaugural women’s basketball team for the 2011-2012 season on May 10.

Onyekewere comes to UST from Mayde Creek High School where she averaged 14 points per game and 10.5 rebounds per game. Her effort on the floor for the Lady Rams earned her 1st Team All-District honors. Her team voted her Defensive Player of the Year and Most Improved player. In the classroom Onyekwere was Academic All-District, and Honors graduate, as well as a member of the National Honor Society.

Coach Ricks on Onyekwere, “Sheila’s upside is tremendous and I believe she has potential to be great. She has great hands and finishes great inside,” said Mike Ricks, women’s basketball coach. “Shelia can also help us out with rebounds and blocks and how good she’ll be will fully be determined by how hard she’ll work
Onyekwere plans on majoring in biology.
