St. Edward’s Ends Celts' Winning Streak
St. Thomas put its four-game winning streak on the line Jan. 3 as they welcomed in A.I. I. Division II foe St. Edward’s. The Celts got off to a slow start in the first half. Cold shooting by the Celts and hot shooting by St. Edward’s led to a 30-37 deficit in the first half.

The second half was much of the same for the Celts. St. Edward’s shot 50 percent from the field for the game and 40 percent from the 3 point line, while St. Thomas shot 35 percent and 27 percent respectively. The Celts were able to keep the game close down the stretch with strong defense causing 19 turnovers from St. Edward’s, but fell short with a 65-74 loss.

The Celts were led in scoring on the night by Bryan Kaase with 15 points and Travis Lampley with 14. Bryan Kaase also added 7 rebounds. The Celts will next hit the road to play at 2 p.m., Saturday, Jan. 8 at Loyola University. The team will return home to face Northern New Mexico at 7 p.m., Jan. 12 in Jerabeck Athletic Center, 4000 Mt. Vernon.
