| UST Gets Active with NIRSA Day, BBQ |
The UST community is getting fit with several events that promote fitness and daily exercise activities.
Celebrate National Intramural and Recreational Sports Fitness Day from noon to 2 p.m. on Feb. 21 on the Campus Life Mall and Jerabeck Pool. Events include a Fitness Walk at 12:30 p.m. at the Crooker Patio. Participants will walk a half-mile around campus. The first 30 to sign up for the walk will receive a NIRSA Fitness Day T-shirt. Also a rock wall, bungee, trampoline, miniature golf and other fun activities will be set up on the Mall.
At the end of the event, join the group for the Polar Bear Plunge at 2 p.m. in the Jerabeck Pool. The first 20 people to take the chilly plunge into the pool will receive a NIRSA Fitness Day T-shirt.
The NIRSA National Office invites everyone to stay active.
“National Recreation Sports and Fitness Day celebrates both the founding of NIRSA, as an association, on February 22, 1950, and the nationwide focus on the positive benefits of recreational sports, fitness and wellness on success in academics, work and beyond.”
Another event is the UST Intramural Rodeo and BBQ from 12:30-2 p.m. on Feb. 28. The Office of Recreational Sports and the Student Activities Board are partnering to bring a fun intramural rodeo to the UST campus. The event will help to kick off the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo. Don’t miss all the rodeo-style activities and delicious barbecue.
