| UST Students Share What They Can |
During this thanksgiving season it is important to share what we have with those who are less fortunate. With that in mind, UST’s Chi Rho chapter, along with the Knights of Columbus, is holding a food drive from Oct. 29 through Nov. 8 for parishioners of the St. Joseph Catholic Church who are in need this holiday season.
The clubs are asking for contributions of non-perishable canned goods. The canned goods will be collected in boxes set out by the University seal in front of the Moran Center, in the student lounge in the Moran Center, in Crooker Center or in the Hughes House.
Jonathon Cruz, a senior communications major and Grand Knight for the Knights of Columbus, thinks this is an important time of year to think about giving back to the community.
“There are a lot of families who don’t have money to provide a full thanksgiving meal,” Cruz said. “The canned food drive helps them get together the food they need to have a nice thanksgiving meal with their families.”
In addition to the canned food drive, Chi Rho and the Knights of Columbus will be sponsoring a coat donation from Nov. 4 through Nov. 8. The coats will be donated to Catholic Charities who will then distribute them to those who may need them this winter.
Donation boxes will be set next to the donation boxes for the canned food drive.
