The University of St. Thomas was ranked one of the best colleges in West, according to The Princeton Review.  UST is among 125 colleges and universities in 15 Western states to represent the “Best in the West.”

The Princeton Review commended UST for being a small-sized school with a liberal arts flavor.  Students say that “diversity is welcomed, embraced and celebrated” at University of St. Thomas.

“We chose the University of St. Thomas and the other outstanding institution on the list primarily for their excellent academics,” said Robert Franek, The Princeton Review Senior VP-Publisher.

The Princeton Review measured students’ satisfaction via survey, which asked students to rate their college on several issues, including accessibility of their professors and qualify of their science lab facilities. Students also answered questions about themselves, their fellow students, and their campus life.

Students surveyed rave about the small school feel: “Having grown up attending large public schools, there’s something to be said for smaller schools, where you’re not treated like a number but a real person. Each of my professors, advisors, etc. knew me personally before the end of the first semester.”

Dr. Dominic Aquila, provost and vice president of Academic Affairs, believes the positive evaluation from Princeton Review speaks to the quality of a St. Thomas education.

"Year after year, the University of St. Thomas earns a place on the prestigious list of Best of West colleges and universities,” said Aquila.  “This listing is especially important and meaningful to parents and students because it is the result of students’ actual experience of the transformative power and academic excellence of a University of St. Thomas education.”

Collectively, The Princeton Review featured UST among 649 colleges in the feature, approximately 25 percent of the nation’s 2,500 four-year colleges. This is the education services company’s tally for its 25th annual college rankings.
