Communication Alumni Raise Money for Casarez Scholarship
 More than 40 alumni, students, faculty and friends attended the fundraiser for the Nicole B. Casarez Annual Scholarship, held April 25 at the Houston Arboretum. About $4,300 was raised through donations and a silent auction, exceeding the goal of $2,500.
Members of the Communication Alumni Association established the scholarship in honor of Professor Nicole B. Casarez, who has taught at UST for more than 20 years, educating students in news writing, public relations and media law. She has also been the long-time adviser for the Cauldron student newspaper and established the UST Innocence Project.
The original goal was to raise enough money to fund one class for one communication student at UST; however, it is still possible to raise enough to support two students, or more! This special scholarship has been funded by gifts from many communication alumni and friends. Thank you to everyone who has contributed, helping to support UST communication students.
