Reference Librarian – Part-time hourly
The University of St. Thomas, a private university committed to the liberal arts and to the religious and intellectual tradition of Catholic higher education, is seeking a part-time reference librarian to work weekend hours at the Doherty Library beginning in August 2008. This is a part-time hourly staff position. The current vacancy involves four or five hours per week on Sundays, fall and spring semesters. There is a preference for candidates who are able to substitute for the Saturday reference librarian as needed.
Responsibilities include provision of reference services to our patrons including telephone and e-mail reference service. Assistance with special projects such as creating specialized bibliographies, checklists, holding lists, etc., and the ability to offer advice and consultation to other reference librarians in the department as needed. Supervision of reference desk student assistants. Other duties/responsibilities may be assigned as needed.
An ALA accredited Master’s in Library Science is required. Work experience as a librarian at a university library is preferred. This position requires computer skills, excellent written and oral communication, and organizational skills.
