About Us
Welcome to Information Technology at the University of St. Thomas! With a significant investment in equipment, infrastructure, and technical expertise, the Information Technology Department at the University serves many different users.
Indirectly, Information Technology supports student needs by assisting a multitude of staff departments in carrying out their service missions. Whether it's getting a transcript, researching a paper in the library, paying a bill or sending email to a friend, the IT department is chartered to provide the best service to all users at the University.

The Vice President of Information Technology is Gary McCormack. The departments include Administrative Computing Services, Central Computing Services, Network and Campus Computing Services and Instructional Technology Services. Office of the Vice President for Planning and Technology
The Office of the Vice-President for Information Technology provides oversight of the entire IT Department which includes Administrative Computing Systems, Central Computing Systems, Network and Campus Computing and Technology Support Systems. All University requests for technology are processed through this office as well as approval of yearly technology budgets.
The Information Technology office also oversees the University’s switchboard, telephones, cell phone, pagers, service contracts, etc.

Administrative Computing and Institutional Research
The Administrative Computing Team strives to provide reliable, state of the art technologies that can be used in support of the University’s administrative systems for the enhancement of services for students, faculty, staff, alumni, friends and prospects. In reaching this mission the Team provides support for the following applications:

The Institutional Research Team strives to advance UST’s mission by providing information and reporting needs through the creation and management of institutional databases and through the reporting of salient institutional data internally and to select external agencies. The Team also serves UST’s planning and assessment activities by providing the community with meaningful, empirically grounded information.

Central Computing Services
Central Computing Services operates and maintains the University's central computing systems. These systems include the Web servers, the email systems, library system, the administrative database servers, Blackboard servers and network file and print services. Central Computing Services also manages security including virus protection and patch management, network accounts, disaster recovery and daily backups.
Central Computing Services offers several services for other UST Departments and Schools and students. Services include:
- Microsoft Outlook Exchange Services for Faculty and Staff
- Centralize Storage for Departments
- Departmental email addresses
- Email Distribution Lists for departments
- Email services for students
- Email addresses for student organization and clubs

Network and Campus Computing
The mission of Network and Campus Computing is to provide an effective, user-friendly interface between users utilizing the technology and services provide while expanding functionality, effectiveness, and reliability of the supported services to faculty, staff, administrator, students and constituent groups.
