I cannot access my email and/or send and receive email. What do I do?

Contact the IT Help Desk at ithelpdesk@stthom.edu or contact the Help Desk at 713-525-6900 during business hours, 8:30am A.M.- 5:30pm Monday - Thursday and 8:30am - 5:00pm Friday or leave a voice mail message anytime.

How do access Webmail?

Go to the University's web site and click on the myStThom link, then click on the login to Webmail link.

How much disk space am I allocated with my UST email account?

Each student account has a limit of 100MB of disk space. Faculty using Webmail have a limit of 100MB of disk space. When your limit is exceeded, you will be warned by the system and if you do not reduce the size of your account within a few days, all mail to your account will be stopped and returned to the senders. To check how much space you are using, login to Webmail, click on Options and your mailbox disk quota will be at the bottom of the page.

Why is my account too large?

Some reasons that your account is too large are:
1) There are too many emails stored in your account.
Solution: Delete all email that is not needed. This will help to free up some disk space.
2) Email attachments
Solution: Download the attachments onto your computer via an ftp program, then delete the messages with the attachments.

How do I check my disk quota?

After you login to Webmail, click on Options. Your mailbox disk quota will be at the bottom of the page.

I deleted a lot of my email, but I still have a high or have exceeded the disk quota. Is there a problem, or am I suppose to delete more files?

Check your trash folder to verify that your email has been deleted. If there are emails in your trash folder, delete the email from this folder. To set your preferences so that your deleted email is removed from your trash folder automatically after you log out, go to Options, click on Settings then check the option, Empty folder on logout.

How do I forward my email to another account?

  1. Log into Webmail
  2. Click Options on the tool bar
  3. Select "Settings" left side bar
  4. Check the “Enable forwarding” checkbox
  5. If you do not want to leave a copy of your email messages on the UST mail server, you can check the “Don’t leave copy on server” checkbox. (Optional)
  6. Click the “Save Changes” button at the bottom right hand side of the page.
