Computer Usage
There is only one general use computer lab available exclusively to the UST community. This is the Malloy Computing Center, located in the basement of Robertson Hall. The Doherty Library has computers available to the public, but which do not have any Office products installed beyond the Office viewer utilities. Any of the classrooms equipped with student computer workstations are for classroom use only, and only during classtime. This includes: Malloy 019, Malloy 021, Malloy 245, and O'Rourke 104. Any computers in classroom podiums or meeting rooms are for faculty and staff use only, or by special permission from the IT department.
PC's
The Malloy Computer Center maintains a total of 41 PCs for use by the UST community. There are 40 Dell GX260s available for student, staff, faculty, and alumni general use; additionally a single Dell GX260 has been setup for use with a scanner. All PCs have Microsoft Office 2003, MatLab 7, Maple 9.5, PHStat 2 for Excel, and Oracle Developer 9i installed. Twenty of the general use GX260s and also the computer equipped with the scanner have a CD-RW drive with Roxio Easy CD Creator 5 installed. Please note that student/staff IDs are required, and subject to verification. There are headphones available for those who have audio needs. In order to use the headphones, you must checkout a pair with the Lab Assistant on duty by providing your student ID.
Printers
The Malloy Computer Center maintains two duplexing HP LaserJet black & white printers and one HP Color LaserJet for use by the UST community. The LaserJets and the ColorJet are located in the Lab area. There is a charge of 10 cents per printed page for black & white, and 20 cents per page for color. Printing must be paid for in advance by accessing your Uniprint account with your UST ID card. For assistance in using this system, help is available at the front counters of both the lab and the library. Without an ID or visitor print card you cannot access funds added to your account and, hence, cannot release any print jobs from the print queue to the printers. Visitor print cards may be purchased from the library for $1; otherwise, you must have your UST ID card. |
