Software Licensing
Types of Licenses:
The University purchases three types of licenses.
- The Site license is a license that covers the entire University. Windows XP and Office are examples of a Site license.
- The Individual license is a license that only covers that individual. Adobe Pro and Macromedia Studio 8 are examples of this license.
- The concurrent license is a license that is shared through the University Servers. SPSS and McAfee are examples of this license.
Software Licensing:
The University of St. Thomas supports a number of software solutions and has site licenses for certain products. Other products have a limited number of seats per license. If IT does not have an available seat one can be purchased through IT by contacting the Helpdesk at x6900 and opening a Work Order.
Software license are reserved for one computer only. Installing software on a secondary computer is software piracy. If a second computer needs a certain software package, please call IT and order another license.
