Strategic Agenda
The University of St. Thomas is committed to moving towards our vision of becoming one of America's great Catholic universities. It is the only Catholic institution of higher learning in Houston, and one of the six Institutions of higher learning in Texas. We are poised to greatness, as we educate leaders of faith and character.

From 2001-2003 the University participated in a broad base Strategic Planning process. Campus professionals to include faculty, staff, students, and board members, along with leaders from business and the local community created nine workgroups led by senior faculty, who engaged in research, consumed data, looked at best practices nationally, and made specific recommendations. These recommendations were carefully reviewed and crafted into the UST Strategic Agenda by the Strategic Planning Steering Committee and passed by our Board of Directors in 2003. UST's four strategic initiatives are the framework for the Strategic Agenda are provided on this web site.

In 2004 2005 under the leadership of President Bob Ivany, we achieve the following outcomes: we articulated the University's core values, we revised UST's mission statement, which incorporates our core values and which identifies student legacies of the UST education, and we defined student size aspirations and student qualities.

In 2005 2006, under the President’s leadership, the University of St. Thomas’ accreditation was reaffirmed by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools - Commission on Colleges for the next 10 years.
We developed UST's Measures of Effectiveness, which were organized around the Strategic Agenda initiatives.
We identified our Catholic Comprehensive Benchmark Institutions (CCBI) reference group, which will help us track our progress.
We approved a comprehensive UST athletics program to build community and to attract and engage students.
We supported key elements of our Strategic Agenda by engaging faculty in deepening our resources of active and collaborative learning, departmental internship support and curricular revitalization.

Please read our Strategic Agenda and learn more about the roadmap for the University of St. Thomas’ future as we become one of America's great Catholic universities.
