UST friends and alumni hit the links bright and early Monday, Oct. 15 for the UST Scholarship Tee-Up Tournament at BlackHorse Golf Club. The event raised more than $105,000 for the Fr. Francis E. Monaghan Scholarship Fund.

Daniel Callam, CSB, to comment on the Florida pastor, Jose Luis de Jesus Miranda, who has the number 666 tattooed on his arm and who claims to be divine.  “Throughout history pranks of this sort have frequently appeared,” said Fr. “Clowning Around” a two-page spread highlighting UST’s Mardi Gras Gala under the big top appeared in the April issue of Houston ’s ICON Magazine.  This year’s gala was co-chaired by Odis and Carol Peavy and honored University Campaign Chair Liz Ghrist. The record-breaking event raised $1 million for the Frances E. Monaghan Scholarship Fund, which enables current and future St. Thomas students to benefit from a values-based education.

UST Professor and political analyst Jon Taylor talks to Cox Radio personality Mike Mollett about the 80^th Texas Legislature and 2008 election among other things.  This half-hour public affairs programming was heard on all four Cox Radio, Inc. Professor Rick Young, JD, comments on KPRC- News 2 Daybreak on the controversy surrounding U.S. Attorney General Alberto Gonzales. Gonzales, apparently for political reasons, fired eight U.S. Attorneys. Young expects the controversy to gather steam, and if public perception continues to deteriorate, he predicts it could cost Gonzales his job.

Middle East Expert and UST Adjunct Professor Richard Sindelar, who served as Deputy Director of the U.S. State Department’s Office of Middle East Analysis in the aftermath of Desert Storm, talks to KPRC Channel 2 about the continuing war in Iraq .  “We need to have the will and the determination to win this war, this threat, this global war on terror, and to leave Iraq now I think would be a mistake,” said Sindelar.

Dr. Daryl Koehn, executive director of UST’s Center for Business Ethics, was interviewed by leading ethics magazine Ethisphere to help rank the most moral among international corporations. The interview will appear in an upcoming issue of the magazine.
