Sr. Damien Marie Savino, FSE, Ph.D, chair of UST's Environmental Science and Studies Department, is an environmental scientist with training in ecological restoration and urban environmental issues. She has field and laboratory experience in urban river restoration and soil and groundwater remediation of contaminated sites. She also has a background in theology and is especially interested in the moral implications of the ecological crisis and the relationship between science and theology in light of the Catholic intellectual tradition. Sr. Damien Marie earned her Ph.D. in Environmental Engineering and her Masters in Theology from The Catholic University of America in Washington, D.C. |
Dr. Nivien Saleh, assistant professor of International Studies in the Center for International Studies, is an expert on international relations of the Middle East, Islam, Muslim fundamentalism, Arab-Israeli conflict, U.S. relations with Iran, and Egyptian politics. Dr. Saleh currently teaches Middle East studies as well as courses in international relations and global governance. She received her M.A. in political science from Albert-Ludwigs-Universitaet in Freiburg, Germany (1995) and a Ph.D. in political science from American University in Washington, D.C. (2005). Her current research is in the philosophy of science and its impact on research in political science; ways of democratizing global governance, and Muslim fundamentalism in Egypt. |
