Submit Commencement Speaker Applications by March 19th
Photo: Graduation Student SpeakerAs the excitement of graduation approaches, the search for the next student commencement speaker is in progress. Serving as commencement speaker is a unique opportunity to share your experience and leave your mark on the University of St. Thomas.

The Office of Student Affairs will accept applications for student commencement speaker until 5 p.m. Monday, March 19. The Commencement Student Speaker Search Committee expects to select a single speaker and an alternate by Thursday, April 5.

This invitation is extended to all Graduate and Undergraduate students that graduated in December 2011 and all Graduate and Undergraduate students that will graduate in May, July, and August 2012. Students should file to graduate by Thursday, March 1, to qualify to apply for commencement speaker.

The speaker will address the graduating class, parents, university faculty and staff and special guests by giving a short speech during the commencement ceremonies. All interested students should prepare a five-minute speech and submit the following information:

•Full name
•A draft of your five-minute speech (double-spaced)
•Phone number
•E-mail address
•Home mailing address
•Resume (including activities and UST honors)

Students may submit hard copy applications to the Office of Student Affairs, second floor of Crooker Center, or e-mail application materials to: with the subject line “Student Speaker.”
