Registrar Introduces Faster Way to Transmit Transcripts
The University of St. Thomas has joined a network of Texas colleges and universities to improve the speed, safety and reliability of transmitting college transcripts electronically. The Standardization of Postsecondary Education Electronic Data Exchange (SPEEDE), which is hosted on a secure site through the University of Texas, is the quickest method available to transmit transcripts. Effective July 1, UST will be able to accept electronic transcripts from partner institutions.

“The University’s participation with SPEEDE will be a big advantage for transfer students and students applying for our master’s and doctorate programs,” said Kimberly Sanders, UST registrar and dean of student records. “This program saves time, increases the accuracy of data, improves privacy and confidentiality and can speed up the admission decision because staff receives all required documentation quickly.”

How will it work:
1. College students will be able to request their transcripts to be sent to the University of St. Thomas electronically if their sending institution is a SPEEDE partner.
2. The transcript will transmit over the secured data exchange server overnight, and the UST Registrar’s Office staff will process and internally distribute the transcript the next day.

“We are looking into our next phases of sending transcripts via SPEEDE as well as working with the Office of Admissions to begin accepting high school transcripts (TREX) via SPEEDE,” Sanders said.
