Soccer Looks to Next Match for Win
10/4/2012
Men's Soccer
The University of St. Thomas men’s soccer team will play Huston-Tillotson College at 6 p.m. on Oct. 4 at Houston Amateur Sports Park, 12131 Kirby Drive. After two hard losses, the team works to unite for a win against the Rams.

UST lost 2-1 to Northwood University on Sept. 27 at HASP. Sophomore Evan Hesekiel scored his first goal of the season in the eighth minute off of an assist from Chris Natera. The goal put UST in the lead until Northwood tied it up early in the second half.

Both teams played hard but a penalty kick awarded to the Knights made the difference to give Northwood a 2-1 win.

Men’s soccer also lost 2-1 to Louisiana State University-Shreveport on a wet night on Sept. 29 at HASP.  Although the Celts played well, they gave up early goals in the 12th and 24th minutes causing them to go into the half down 2-0.

The game stayed at 2-0 until a weather delay was called because of lightning in the 76th minute. After the delay, play resumed and UST sophomore Gio Andrande scored after a cross from Irvinn Ramirez with 11 minutes to go. The Celts had several late chances, but the game ended with a 2-1 win for LSUS.
