Alumni Host Taco Fundraiser
The University of St. Thomas Alumni Association will host the 2nd
Annual Two Saints and a Taco Tasting
scholarship fundraiser at 7-9:30 p.m. on April 18 at Saint Arnold’s Brewing Co., 2000 Lyons Ave.
Last year, more than 300 people attended Two Saints and a Taco Tasting, and in the fall, the Alumni Association awarded more than $20,000 in continuing student scholarships as a direct result of the inaugural event. This year, the goal is to raise more than $30,000 for scholarships, with alumni support.
Restaurants from around Houston will offer samples of their best tacos, and all attendees at the Taco Tasting will be able to vote for their favorite through the popular vote. Guests can sample tacos from 100% Taquito
, El Tiempo Cantina
, Hearsay Gastro Lounge
, Maria Selma
, Tacos A Go-Go
, Torchy’s Tacos
and the 2012 reigning champion Escalantes Mexican Restaurant
. 100% Taquito and The Chocolate Bar
will also provide dessert.
This year, there will also be a taco award based on the discerning tastes of celebrity judges like Chris Shepherd, owner and executive chef at Underbelly, and Seth Payne, former Houston Texans defensive tackle and SportsRadio 610 host.
Come enjoy all the delicious taco entries, view live entertainment and sample the full lineup from Texas’ oldest craft brewery. The event will also feature a silent auction with package themes related to tacos, beer and saints.
The event is 21 and up, and benefits the Alumni Association Annual Scholarship Fund. Tickets are sold out as of April 8. Sponsorship opportunities are available starting at $250.
