Education Receives Esteemed Accreditation
School of Education StudentsThe Teacher Education Accreditation Council has awarded a five-year initial accreditation to the University of St. Thomas School of Education in the Educational Leadership program.

TEAC is dedicated to helping educator preparation programs improve and be accountable in offering a quality program.

UST's Educational Leadership program is part of a Master of Education degree designed to develop master classroom teachers, instructional specialists and school leaders who demonstrate the ability to translate and apply educational research in instructional settings.

"I am very pleased the Educational Leadership Program in the School of Education has received initial accreditation," said Dr. Nora Hutto, dean of the School of Education. "This important accomplishment represents the quality and character of the program. My hope and vision is that the undergraduate program will choose to also pursue initial certification in the near future."

TEAC, founded in 1997, is a nonprofit organization dedicated to improving academic degree programs for professional educators such as those who will teach and lead in schools in pre-K through grade 12. TEAC’s goal is to support the preparation of competent, caring and qualified professional educators.

The member universities represent a wide range of higher education institutions, which include small liberal arts colleges and large research universities such as Utah State University, Washington and Lee University, Wilmington College of Ohio and now the University of St. Thomas.
