The University of St. Thomas volleyball team got off to a rough start with two three-set losses at the Texas Wesleyan Lu Allen Volleyball Invitational on Friday, Aug. 24.
The Lady Celts first fell to Oklahoma Baptist, from Shawnee, Okla., 18-25, 9-25 and 13-25. Then, they were topped by John Brown University, from Siloam Springs, Ariz., 22-25, 16-25 and 21-25. Senior Lauren Curley played well in the hard-fought losses.
UST, now 0-2 overall, will look to turn things around as tournament play continues. With two more matches on Saturday, Aug. 25, the team will square off at 10:30 a.m. against Wiley College, in Marshall, Texas, which received votes in the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics preseason poll. UST will matchup against invitational host Texas Wesleyan University, from Graham, Texas at 3 p.m.
