FOCUS on Your Faith
9/4/2007
For the first year at UST, FOCUS, Fellowship of Catholic University Students, is working in coordination with Campus Ministry to help students grow deeper in their faith, and to give students the tools necessary to spread the Catholic ministry.
Brian Miller, Pam Ocampo, Ed Rubin and Danielle DuPre (pictured from left to right) are recent college graduates from around the nation who are stationed at UST for a year. They are trained in scripture, evangelization, church teachings and the practical aspects of ministry. They will offer student outreach programs, one-on-one ministry and leadership training.
“We help students realize the tools that they need to grow in their faith,” DuPre said. “Then we send them out to do the same for others – invest in others as we have invested in them.”
Miller graduated from Benedictine College in Atchison, Kan., with a degree in youth ministry and theology. Ocampo graduated from the University of Redlands in California with a degree in communicative disorders. Rubin comes from the University of Nebraska with a degree in mathematics and DuPre from Illinois State University with a psychology degree.
St. Thomas is the first university in Texas to work with the FOCUS ministry.
