Rauniar Recognized for Contributions
11/27/2007
University of St. Thomas Management and Marketing Assistant Professor, Dr. Rupak Rauniar was presented with a certificate of recognition for his outstanding contributions as a track chair in the area of new product development and project management. The honor was given to Rauniar, who works in the Cameron School of Business, at the 38th Annual Meeting of Decision Sciences Institute (DSI), in Phoenix, Ariz. Nov. 17-20.
The DSI annual meeting is a leading conference in the area of decision sciences, operations management and operations research. The annual conference typically has an average of 1,500 research papers presented by 2000 participants from around the world.
“As a track chair, I was involved in managing all the submissions related to the new product development/project management for the conference,” said Rauniar. “Since it was a peer reviewed conference, I had to recruit and assign submissions of the reviewers. Once feedback was received, I had to provide that feedback to the authors of these papers and make the final decision whether the research would be officially accepted or not.”
For any conference, track chairs are members of the organizing committee and are involved in the various aspects of planning and organizing the conference. Being a track chair of a peer-reviewed conference gives visibility among hundreds of participants that come from all different types of research universities.
