Graphic: Justice for ImmigrantsThe Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston will host a regional Justice for Immigrants session to discuss the status of pending immigration reform featuring United States Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB) staff and local experts on Friday and Saturday, Oct. 30 and 31, at the University of St. Thomas, Scanlan Room, Jerabeck Center, 4000 Mt. Delegates from Texas, Oklahoma and Arkansas were invited to listen to speakers and receive training. Among the speakers will be Kevin Appleby, the lead advocate in the Congress for the American Bishops on the subject of immigration.

The second day of training will be offered free of charge to local parish leaders. Day two will provide in-depth analysis of the origins of the Church’s stance on immigration and how these teachings affect our local communities.

Rev. William J. Young Social Justice Institute, Catholic Charities, Catholic Relief Services, Hispanic Ministry and the Office of Justice and Peace are co-sponsoring the regional session. For the first day, the fee is $35 which covers materials and lunch. Click here to register.
