Ivany to Serve on Greater Houston Partnership Board
1/26/2009
Reaffirming the University’s commitment to the Houston community, University of St. Thomas President Dr. Robert Ivany was appointed to serve on the Greater Houston Partnership 2009 Board of Directors.
The Greater Houston Partnership traces its roots back to Houston's original Chamber of Commerce founded in 1840. In 2009, the Partnership embarks on its 20th year with focus to inspire growth and opportunity, and to build regional economic prosperity.
Jeff Moseley, President and CEO of the Greater Houston Partnership, said Ivany will serve on the Board with more than 130 of Houston’s industry leaders.
“We are excited to have such an accomplished scholar and leader, such as Dr. Robert Ivany, as one of our newest Board Members,” Moseley said. “We look forward to working with Dr. Ivany on issues important to our community, such as education and national security, as we continue to strengthen our region’s global position.”
The Partnership facilitates relocations and expansions in the Houston area; international outreach initiatives such as business development missions outside the U.S. and receiving foreign trade delegations; and strategic planning. The 10-county Houston region encompasses Austin, Brazoria, Chambers, Fort Bend, Galveston, Harris, Liberty, Montgomery, San Jacinto and Waller counties.
