Volleyball Team Defeats Mary Hardin Baylor

 The Lady Celts Volleyball team hit the road for three matches last week. It started with a Tuesday, Sept. 21 match at Mary Hardin Baylor, where the Lady Celts won 3-1,with set scores 25-20, 25-14, 19-25, 25-15. Casey Mulryan led with 15 kills, Lauren Poe had 14 and Mallory Wendel and Courtney Johnson each had 12 kills.
Friday, Sept. 24, the Lady Celts travelled to Dallas and Waxahachie for matches against Texas Wesleyan and Southwest Assemblies of God (SAGU). The first heartbreak came at Texas Wesleyan where the Lady Celts lost despite a two- lead. Mulryan again led the Lady Celts with 15 kills but could not stop the 25-22, 25-15, 20-25, 12-25, 11-15 loss. Courtney Johnson and Brittany Downs each had 20 digs.
Later that day, the Lady Celts experienced the second heartbreak with another five-set loss to SAGU, 25-22, 17-25, 25-21, 14-25, 10-15. Mulryan, 12 kills, and Wendel, 10 kills, tried to carry the team to victory but just didn’t have enough to finish off the win. Brittany Downs recorded a season high 29 digs in the loss.
