Asayat Camarena Named Student-Athlete of the Week

#6 Asayat Camarena, Men’s Soccer
Asayat Camarena transferred to UST from Northeastern State University, and is entering his second year with the UST Celts. He is a junior currently pursuing a Bachelor of Business Administration in Marketing at the UST Cameron School of Business.
Camarena’s academic achievements have been recognized with academic scholarships, and he was nominated for the Student Leadership Award in 2009 and 2010. He was named to the 2nd team All-Conference in 2009, and is currently on the Roster of the Under 21 Men's Panama National Team. In 2007, was named to the 19-5A first team All-District, the first team All-Region and the first team All-State. He received additional accolades as the fist team All-Greater Houston by the Houston Chronicle, the Dynamo XI Best Starting Lineup for High School Players and he was a State semifinalist in 2007.
His club soccer experience includes the eight-time State Champions from 2001-2007. Camarena has participated in the Olympic Development program State Team from 2001-2006, the Regional pool from 2003-2004 and the Regional Team from 2003-2004, the National pool in 2004 and the United States National Team Camp in Boston.
“Asayat is an extremely talented and versatile player. Asayat is a strong Defender with great technical ability who will be a key to our success in 2010,” Coach Champenoy said.
