Dr. Stockton Makes Lecture Circuit

Dr. Hans Stockton, director of the University of St. Thomas Center for International Studies, has been making the conference and lecture circuit this October.
Stockton presented his research on U.S. – China – Taiwan relations at the annual meeting of the Southwest Conference on Asian Studies held at Texas Christian University. He presented on Taiwan’s elections at the annual meeting of the American Association of Chinese Studies at Wake Forest University, and was a speaker at a U.S. – China Relations symposium at Sam Houston State University, where he spoke on China’s current economic conditions and the political philosophies that drive China’s modernization. Also related to mainland China, Stockton addressed the commercial opportunities related to international education at the 2nd Annual Texas-China Business Summit held at Rice University.
Stockton received his doctorate in political science from Texas A&M University in 1998 and has been at UST since 2002. His areas of specialization are democratization and security in contemporary Asia Pacific, with concentration on Korea, China, and Taiwan.
