UST Hosts the 2010 A.I.I. Conference Volleyball Championship

 University of St. Thomas will host the 2010 Association of Independent Institutions (A.I.I.) Conference Volleyball Championship Nov. 11-13 in the Jerabeck Athletic Center Gymnasium , 4000 Mt. Vernon, on the St. Thomas campus. The top six teams in the 11-team league advanced to the tournament and action gets underway on Thursday, Nov. 11 at 10 a.m.. The teams will play in a double elimination format tournament. This is the second time that St. Thomas has played host to the A.I.I. Volleyball Championship. The Lady Celts hosted the 2009 tournament. St. Thomas is the two -time defending A.I.I. Conference Tournament Champions. The winner of the tournament earns the A.I.I. automatic bid to the NAIA Championships First Round.
The tournament will kick off with the No. 4 seed Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University playing the No. 5 seed Marygrove College at 10a.m. Thursday. That match will be followed at noon with the No. 3 seeded University of St. Thomas playing No. 6 seeded Central Baptist College. No. 1 seeded Southwestern College will take on the winner of Match 1 at 3 p.m., while No. 2 seeded Talladega will take on the winner of Match 2 at 5 p.m.
