Celts Take on Ranked Foe and Division I Rice

 Facing the second game on four straight games on the road, the Celts faced off against No. 11 ranked Texas Wesleyan on Nov. 9. Cold early shooting and Texas Wesleyan dominating the offensive board led to an early deficit that the Celts could not over come. The Celts lost 57-77. Texas Wesleyan balanced scoring with four players in double figures. The Celts were led by Barrett Lauer with 12 points in just 15 minutes. Anthony Medina chipped in 11.
The 2-1 Celts next faced Rice at Tudor Fieldhouse on Nov. 12. In front of a large crowd of many St. Thomas supporters, the Celts were not intimidated by their Division I opponent. The Celts held a slim one point lead at half 30-29.
Strong defense held Rice to 29 percent shooting. In the second half, the bigger Owls pounded the ball inside drawing fouls and slowly pulled away for a 63-51 victory. Jeremy Lewis led the Celts with 19 points.
